John Received his Associates in Applied Nutrition from Luzerne County Community College and his B.S. in Applied Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University. He has also completed three certificate courses in SNOMED CT currently offered by SNOMED International. He is an active participant in several workgroups dedicated to improving the quality of laboratory data.  His dedication to facilitating the use of LOINC and UCUM for laboratory data laid the groundwork for research publications such as: “Opening the Door to the Large Scale Use of Clinical Lab Measures for Association Testing: Exploring Different Methods for Defining Phenotypes” and “Characterizing and Managing Missing Structured Data in Electronic Health Records.”
