John Snyder brings to Diameter Health extensive knowledge of standardized medical terminologies and their application for improved patient data capture and analytics.
In his role as Lead Medical Terminologist, he leads the management of standardized medical terminologies that drive Diameter’s core product line.
Previously with Geisinger Health System, he led the implementation of SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, and a core set of other terminologies to meet organizational needs for Meaningful Use Stage II and III as well as for eCQM reporting. He provided strategic insight into the use of SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm needed to build the organization’s laboratory culture data model.
John Received his Associates in Applied Nutrition from Luzerne County Community College and his B.S. in Applied Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University. He has also completed three certificate courses in SNOMED CT currently offered by SNOMED International. He is an active participant in several workgroups dedicated to improving the quality of laboratory data. His dedication to facilitating the use of LOINC and UCUM for laboratory data laid the groundwork for research publications such as: “Opening the Door to the Large Scale Use of Clinical Lab Measures for Association Testing: Exploring Different Methods for Defining Phenotypes” and “Characterizing and Managing Missing Structured Data in Electronic Health Records.”
Currently, John sits on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ eNCPT committee that is responsible for the management of the International Dietetics & Nutrition Terminology.
