Dean Sittig, PhD is professor at the University of Texas, School of Biomedical Informatics in the Health Science Center at Houston.
He has authored over 200 articles in the field of health IT and three leading books, Improving Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support: An Implementer’s Guide, Clinical Information Systems: Overcoming Adverse Consequences, and Electronic Health Records: Challenges in Design and Implementation.
For Memorial Hermann, the largest healthcare system in Houston, Professor Sittig serves on the clinical decision support leadership team through the UT-Memorial Hermann Center for Healthcare Quality & Safety. His past work includes roles with Kaiser Permanente, Partners Healthcare and WebMD. He has been a member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) for 24 years and currently serves on their Board of Directors.
Professor Sittig was elected as a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) in 1992 and as a Fellow of the Hospital Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) in 2011.
