The Health Data Revolution Video
Lipika Samal, MD MPH (Associate Physician, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an Investigator in Health Information Technology) participated in a Harvard School of Public Health presentation “The Health Data Revolution” with fellow panelists John Halamka (Chief Information Officer, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Chair, Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel), Deven McGraw (Former Deputy Director of Health Information Privacy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights; Former Acting Chief Privacy Officer, Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT), and Thomas Lee (Chief Medical Officer, Press Ganey, and Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health).
In her remarks, Dr. Samal discusses the development of a low cost app using interoperable documents and open-source components which automates the calculation of kidney failure risk and displays clinical decision support to users in primary care practices. The results were previously published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association in July, 2017.
