Diameter Health Pitches at CareFWD 2013
Boston, MA — At the inaugural 2013 CareFWD conference Diameter Health was selected as an innovative startup to pitch for ventures capitalists, hospital executives and information technology experts in attendance. CareFWD is a conference organized by Care Innovators to bring together a cross-section of Massachusetts‘ biotechnology, medical device and health IT companies and leading individuals. John Halamka, Chief Information Officer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and health information technology pioneer, presented at CareFWD and has summarized five key takeaways from the event.
“Given Boston’s leadership position in the field, CareFWD 2013 was a superb opportunity to introduce Diameter Health to the region” stated John D’Amore, President of Diameter Health. “Boston has the largest concentration of ACOs anywhere in the country and the single largest Medicare Shared-Savings ACO with Partners. The work of these organizations will be critical to the improving the delivery of US healthcare.” Accountable Care Organizations, or ACOs, are a structure where physicians receive periodic bonuses or penalties based on managing population cost and care quality. Approximately 450-500 ACOs exist in the United States, with about half organized through the federally sponsored Medicare program.
