Diameter Health Founder and CTO John D’Amore Presents “Striving for Semantic Interoperability” at 16th annual HIMSS Conference

Farmington, CT – On February 29th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM PT, John D’Amore, CTO & President of Diameter Health, will present “Striving for Semantic Interoperability” at the 2016 Annual Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Interoperability’s promise — to make essential patient data available to clinicians and patients electronically – has been partially realized due to the increased use of electronic health records. Yet, organizations still struggle with siloed electronic medical record systems that often do not communicate. Specific obstacles remain on how organizations can integrate and apply business rules to incoming medical data, a concept known as semantic interoperability.

John D’Amore is a published expert and advocate for achieving semantic interoperability. Regarding the future of information exchange, he says, “Semantic interoperability will enable clinicians to use decision support, medical algorithms and electronic health records to deliver superior care to patients. Our focus at Diameter Health, is to help hospitals, medical providers and health information exchanges achieve semantic interoperability with software that provides document scoring, surveillance and intelligent normalization.”

The presentation will be during the HIMSS Symposium on Health Information Exchange, for which attendees must register to attend and will be available for continuing education credits. During the 2:00 PM session which will be in Bellini 2004, John and his co-presenter Russ Leftwich, MD will:

  • Describe approaches to data exchange that support semantic interoperability.
  • Evaluate the role of vendors in semantic interoperability solutions.
  • Identify clinical and business use cases for solutions to semantic interoperability.
  • Assess ways to improve the consistency and usefulness of CCDA implementations

The 2016 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition, February 29 – March 4, 2016 in Las Vegas, brings together 40,000+ health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world.
